Most people see him as a political attacker on sitting governments and others will call him ‘love doctor’. Alex Lucky Mensah is the name his late mother Agnes Odoom a.k.a Yaa Mansah and the late Mr. Jacob Wilson gave to him at Gomoa Dominasi in the Central Region on the 3rd of June on his birthday and he is the last of 8 children.

Known by the stage name Lucky Mensah, he starting singing in the Christo Asafo church at Gomoa at the age of 11years in 1981. His mother who did not agree to his kind of career as in singing even though it was in the house of God passed away in 1981 which compelled Lucky to move to Accra New Town, a suburb in the Greater Accra region to live with the mother’s sibling, he was 12years by then.

He continued singing at the Accra new town branch of the Christo Asafo church until he fell in love a band called Figo brothers band which motivated and encouraged him to start writing his own songs in 1990 with their ages thus they looked very young as musicians. According to lucky Mensah he struggled to get a producer for his songs, he then sent some demos to his half brother, William Crentil based in Germany who was happy with the song and in return sent him some money to record a mastered album. He also produced that album in 1993.

Lucky Mensah have 11 album to his credit with hit songs like ‘Aduu sumo kwadu’, ‘Woo ti makoma’, Old skull’, ‘Nkratuo’ and so on. He was last heard on the termed political song ‘nkratuo’ in 2010. Married with 5 children; 4boys and 1girl, Lucky’s wife is called Leticia Owusuwaa Mensah.

What most people do not know about Lucky Mensah is that he is a football.
