There is a saying that “without music, life is nothing”.

Theophilus Kofi Nti was born January 25 1980 in Aburi (Eastern Ghana). Kofi is one of three boys born to Doris Afrakomah and Kwadwo Owusu Ansah (late) but was motivated by the stage name of Mr. music man, Kojo Antwi so he chose Kofi Nti as his stage name as an artiste.

Growing up in Aburi, Kofi attended Methodist Primary School and then moved from Aburi to dome a suburb of Accra where he continued to dome junior high school and then to Koforidua Secondary Technical School. He enjoyed sports and singing too.

After secondary school, Kofi use to help his mother at UTC in Accra where she sells cloths but his mother was not happy with Kofi staying in the shop without thinking of working or furthering his education and thereby asked him to go out and ‘hustle’ as a man.

Kofi decided to take tennis as a serious profession since he was good during his school days and then went professional by playing for a team called Seltic. Kofi’s team was supposed to travel to morocco after winning a game against Ghana navy tennis team but was not able to fly to morocco due to financial problems in 2001 and that was his last match.

This compelled Kofi Nti to visit his good friend KK Fosu with his written song. KK together with Kofi himself went to DKB recording studio at Awudome then and recorded the song ‘wake up’, hence the released of his first album ‘wake up’ in 2002.

Kofi Nti has 5 albums to his credit with hit songs like wake up, Akonta, Rakia, Odo ndwom, Atweetan, Okyerewaa Ba, the list goes on.

Kofi Nti is happily married to Mabel Efia Owusuah and blessed with 2children. Kofi Nti has worked with a number of popular Ghana musicians including KK Fosu, and Ofori Amponsah, Okyeame Kojo Kum and so on. Let’s have a last song from Kofi and speak to him afterwards.
