I wanted to guage fans reaction to my new hairstyle – Kuami Eugene
Highlife artiste Kuami Eugene says he is still receiving mixed reactions from his fans on his all-new hairstyle.
In an interview with JoyNews’ Doreen Avio, he disclosed that due to his fast-growing hair, he needs to visit the barbering salon for a haircut on a regular basis.
However, due to the social distance protocols brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, he has been unable to frequent the barbershop as often as before.
Kuami Eugene says he therefore chose to grow out his hair during the lockdown and try something new with it.
“I have a problem where when I trim my hair today, it grows back so soon. And you know due to the Covid-19 lockdown, most of us are home now, [so] I decided to leave my hair to grow,” he said.
He also added that in view of his upcoming album release, he wanted a new look that would complement the theme of his new album, and for that matter decided to have his hair twisted. However, the reactions that have come from his fans and followers have been varied.
“People have known my brand and even say I’m a church boy, cool, descent and [a] fine highlife guy, and all of a sudden boom. My fans are even asking if I’m about to do dancehall or I’m switching my genre of music,” he said.
“With my brand, I am in a position where everybody thinks they have a say in my life. They [feel the] need to nurture me because I am a young boy and if they don’t nurture me, I will go wayward.”
As to whether he would maintain this new look or revert to the old, Kuami Eugene, revealed that his decision either way would depend on the feedback he received from his fans.
